I am sick to death of Magic Johnson and his pathetic commerical for Rent-a-Center and Jaskon Hewitt. (I haven’t checked yet, but I am sure these companies are connected some how). Here is my issue with Magic: He is a sellout and hopefully, he does not know how much he is hurting the very people he is trying to help.

I studied African-American History for a semester. I was pounced everyday why the black man is kept down, why the white man keeps them down, why the can’t get ahead, why they have no opportunity, why blacks are the leading minority in poverty, drug abuse, unwed pregnant girls in junior high, crime, murder, and so on and so on.

So, here is one of the greatest NBA stars to have ever lived selling the most repressive businesses in the world – debt factories and loan sharks, ie: rent-a-center and jackson hewitt. On the one hand you Magic up there smiling on the television talking about how JH is there right in your neighborhood (because poverty stricken people don’t have cars) where you can go over, turn in your W2 and get cash from your  tax refund. On the other hand, he is sharing family memories of his parents working hard and whatever.

First of all, nobody and I mean nobody should be getting a refund (giving your hard earned money away to the government is not my idea of a free-market society) but that is for another post…

I want to help everyone I can get what they want. But guess what…? It takes hard work and dedication to get what you want. I’m sorry but that is the truth. Some of my colleagues tell me that you can’t save everyone. Believe me I know this! I come from a long line of savers! I can’t help you if you are not willing to help yourself. Period, end of discussion.
